Portishead Pre-School (the charity that manages Hilltop and Brampton Pre-Schools) is run by a voluntary committee, of both parents and members of the community. The committee must have a minimum of 4 people and are voted into position at the Annual General Meeting, which is held each autumn. Committee members are required to attend a committee meeting each term, which contributes to the running of both settings.
Committee members are voted into position by parents of the Pre-School at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in October/November each year. The Pre-School adopts the constitution of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

- Setting pay scales & paying wages
- Control of admissions
- Fixing and collection of fees
- Fundraising (Coordinated by the committee with parental support)
As a registered charity, fundraising is a vital part of the Pre-School budget. The Pre-School receives funding from North Somerset for children the funding term following their third birthday, however, this only covers the basic operation. Because of this, fundraising is essential in order to maintain our generous ratio of adults, support our free-flow play ethos, as well as providing resources that encourage learning and development.

Volunteers are regularly needed to join the Committee as members naturally move on as their children leave the Pre-School. It can be very rewarding to be involved with your child’s Pre-School, to feel that you are contributing to a successful Pre-School. It goes without saying that it is great fun and an excellent way to extend your circle of friends.
