We were overwhelmed with support at the May Fair! We raised around £770 – all of which goes back into supporting and improving the settings. Thank you to everyone who supported the event – running stalls, donating prizes, general preparation. Without the support of the team, the parents and the community this event would not have been possible. Thank you!
An extra thank you to Priority Football who ran a 2 hour football session for all the children!
If you would like to give feedback to help us for next year please do so on the link here.
Each setting will be holding a cake sale and raffle on Thursday 28th March.
All cakes will be 50p and all raffle tickets will be £1. Each setting will have a separate raffle with the similar prizes. First Prize will be a vase of paper flowers from Pretty Petals by Emma (photo below) and Second Prize is six cupcakes from Sarah C – photo to follow.
Brampton’s event will run at the end of the school day (3.15 – 3.45pm) in the entrance to the building.
Hilltop’s event will run from 8.45am until 3.45pm. This is due to the number of Hilltop parents collecting throughout the day. There will be member of the committee periodically at the stall – if you find no-one manning the stall, please use the honesty box or contact a member of staff.
Both raffles will be drawn at 4pm and winners will be notified by the following day (29th March).
We are excited to announce that we are nearing the end of the long process of Incorporation of the charity and invite you to an Extraordinary General Meeting of Portishead Playgroups – on Tuesday 8thMay at 8pm at Brampton Pre-School (the full details are attached).
The purpose of the meeting is to approve the minutes from the AGM (also attached) and to approve the new constitution (which is also attached) and this will allow us to move forward and apply to The Charity Commission to make these changes, which include our name change to Portishead Pre-School. This has been a process going on for several years and the committee have put many hours into this process. In order for the meeting to go ahead and for us to move to the next stage we need to have representation from a percentage of all families, without enough representation the meeting would have to be rescheduled and would further delay the process.
There has been great excitement about children receiving their school places recently, but with lots of children moving onto school in September we will be losing a several members of our committee at the end of the summer term, until the AGM in the Autumn when we are able to recruit more. Therefore, the EGM is an opportunity for us to co-opt one person onto the committee and we would welcome the support! The committee are responsible for the fundraising and business side of the pre-school and we are really well supported by the team at Brampton and Hilltop. We meet termly and your contribution is totally dependent on how much you wish to take on. If you would like to join the committee or would like more information please get in touch – email@example.com
We will, of course, be providing cheese and wine and we look forward to seeing you there.
